Do I have to sign-up or preregister?

No. However- yogis are on time. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before class so you can check in and get settled.

What should I bring?

Wear comfortable, stretchy clothing that allows movement. Nothing too loose or baggy. The studio has mats and props available for use. If you become a regular practitioner- we suggest you purchase your own mat.  They can be found at Target, Marshalls, etc.

Do I need special shoes?

No. Yoga is practiced in bare feet.  Please take shoes off near the door and deposit in a cubby.

Is yoga a religious practice?

No. However, yoga is deeply rooted in Hindu traditions and many of the poses are in Sanskrit- the ancient language of India.  Yoga is a means to accessing your Whole Self-  and can be an avenue towards deep spiritual growth. 

What does NAMASTE mean?

Namaste is a Sanskrit greeting that has multiple meanings-  it implies a deep reverence to all sentient beings and is usually a common ending to most yoga practices.

Turn off cell phones and pagers

Don't eat for at least 1-2 hours before class

Be prepared to sweat.  Warmth ensures safety

Yoga is non-competitive- don't compare yourself with others

The breath is your anchor.  Don't hold your breath

Yoga doesn't hurt.  Listen to your body- be gentle with yourself
