| Vasisthasana - The side-plank pose ok- so I've been doing side-plank for a long time. and yes, my shoulders and wrists are strong. however- at Heart Center Yoga- we're all about "yoga for every-BODY" and side plank is a doable pose for every-BODY- it's also the perfect pose to develop wrist and shoulder strength as well as firming the core-muscles. and there are a multitude of variations to chose from- so click on the video for side plank- and you'll see patti demo-ing several of these options. the most important thing to remember however is that you and only you know which variation is best for you at any moment. just because your side-plank looks/feels a certain way one day- it's not about re-creating that same pose. yoga is about evolving. so everytime you come to the mat and you chose to practice side-plank- explore it with a beginner's-mind. feel your way through different variations. try to enter and exit it from a different pose. get creative. make your yoga about what's best for YOUR body. because you are your own best teacher. namaste~ ~glm |
